JD Birds: Avian Housing

Avian Housing

  • Your bird MUST have a cage for its safety and as an emotional haven

  • Bar spacing needs to be appropriate for the type of bird you have

  • Provide at least two natural branch perches in their cage - a small one which allows their toes to wrap around compeletey, and a larg one so their toes rest flat. Safe branches with leaves are a great option

  • Have several bird-safe toys in the cate - ones they can destroy are most fun.

  • Change cage papers daily. Don't use corncob or other bedding - they promote bacteria

  • Clean cage thoroughly with soap and water at least once a month
